ADA ACCESSIBLE TRAIL
Upper Southampton Parks and Recreation has been awarded the PECO Green Region Open Space Program Grant for a Trail Construction Grant making an ADA accessible trail to the Glade and Butterfly Garden in Tamanend Park, 1255 2nd Street Pike, Southampton PA 18966. This ADA accessible trail would begin at the handicapped parking space in front of Tamanend Park's Information Sign, leading past the Bird Sanctuary and historic Farmhouse, and ending at the Glade and Butterfly Garden. The Butterfly Garden is a memorial for families who have lost children. It is often visited and sought out as a place of peace and beauty. Visitors frequently come to sit on the benches in the Garden. During the summers, in its full bloom, the campers at Tamanend Park love to go and explore the Butterfly Garden and identify the different butterflies and plants. It is one of Tamanend Park's most unique features and we now have made it accessible to all who wish to visit. We would like to thank the Friends of Tamanend who maintain this beautiful butterfly garden.
We want to thank the Department of Public Works for completing this project timely and professionally. We want to also thank PECO Green Region Grant for $5,000 and the Township matching the cost, allowing us to complete this project.
Upper Southampton has many goals that focus around conserving and protecting the natural resources that the Township possesses. As a jewel within our park system Tamanend Park epitomizes this effort. By receiving grants this will allow the Township to plan and serve as a gateway to connect the community through a premier system of greenways and trails, which will also provide an opportunity for resource and environmental education.
It was difficult to travel to the Glade and Butterfly Garden because of the erosion on the trail, as rain quickly floods the path, and its rough terrain made it nearly impossible to access by wheelchair. Paving this pathway makes it much more accessible to walkers, runners and handicapped visitors. The Butterfly Garden is a very unique feature of Tamanend Park and making it ADA accessible is beneficial to the entire community.

Upper Southampton has many goals that focus around conserving and protecting the natural resources that the Township possesses. As a jewel within our park system Tamanend Park epitomizes this effort. By receiving grants this will allow the Township to plan and serve as a gateway to connect the community through a premier system of greenways and trails, which will also provide an opportunity for resource and environmental education.Upper Southampton Parks and Recreation has been awarded the PECO Green Region Open Space Program Grant for a Trail Construction Grant making an ADA accessible trail to the Glade and Butterfly Garden in Tamanend Park, 1255 2nd Street Pike, Southampton PA 18966.

We want to thank the Department of Public Works for completing this project timely and professionally. We want to also thank PECO Green Region Grant for $5,000 and the Township matching the cost, allowing us to complete this project.

We want to thank the Department of Public Works for completing this project timely and professionally. We want to also thank PECO Green Region Grant for $5,000 and the Township matching the cost, allowing us to complete this project.
